Raising chickens was another first for us. There were two batches of chickens that we raised. The first batch was started the summer of 2024 and we got them as young chicks and kept them on our back porch for a while. There were 5 Speckled Sussex chickens and 5 Silver Laced Wyandottes. Sadly, one of the Wyandottes died, but a big surprise was when we found out that one of them was a rooster! The second batch consisted of 2 Australorps, 2 Sapphire Gems, 2 Marans, and 1 unknown mixed breed. Those chickens came from Rural King and they're still pretty little. This year, I'm showing the Wyandotte rooster, Speckled Sussex trio, and an Australorp. Here are some pictures of their adventures.
