Meredith's Critters

12/18/2025- New hay setup! Gave the goats an early Christmas present by setting up a hay bag with a tray under it. The tray will catch any hay that falls from the hay bag because Boone hates eating off the ground. Picky thing. We also put pine needles in the tray and found out that our goats LOVE pine needles too. That's become a tradition with our goats to give them pine needles as a special treat because oddly enough, they don't like goat treats from the store or anything. There's also a salt brick buried somewhere underneath all of those pine needles.

11/3/2025- As Thanksgiving is coming up, Boone would probably be thankful that we've never forgotten to feed him (despite what he might tell you). I've been trimming the goat's hooves every two weeks to keep them healthy and to make sure they can walk without pain. We've also been giving them baths regularly so when fair comes, they'll know what they're doing. Boone has been gaining weight pretty steadily since we got him and I would say with a few more walking practices, we'll be ready for fair! February is coming much faster than we think.

10/15/2025- I think Boone is the most attention seeking goat I've ever had. None of my goats have ever just wanted to be around me 24/7. I think my other goats never really wanted too much to do with me unless I had food, and while Boone does like food, he likes being pet a lot.

9/12/2025- We started putting hay in the tires more often to get the goats to go through the tunnel we built over the summer, and Boone could care less about the tunnel, he really just likes the hay. I caught this picture thinking he was about to go through the tunnel, but he just kept eating and then ran through the tire and back to whatever he was doing before. Hopefully we'll get them to use that tunnel soon.

8/24/2025- We've acquired some big truck tires over the past couple days and I think Boone and his friends have a new favorite toy. They were jumping all over them and bouncing on them like trampolines. We hope to add to the collection as time goes on so we can make one big tire bounce house for the goats.

7/30/2025- I'm so glad my friend caught a picture of this moment. I was getting frustrated with him during a walk, so I sat down on the ground for a little bit and he came up to me like that and we kept going. Sweet Boone.

7/4/2025- It's the Fourth of July! We had to be festive for the occasion and dress Boone up. I don't know if he liked this one as much, but bribery with hay always works. The flag on his back also worked as a good desensitizing tool so he'll learn to be less afraid of his surroundings. If a large flag flapping in the wind and all over his back doesn't bother him, he's ready for almost anything.

6/30/2025 - Big surprise... Boone LOVES hay. This shot was taken from the bottom of the slide we installed last year, and unfortunately we didn't get a video of him going down it because that was hilarious. Goats were probably not made for going down slides, but Boone likes it and it's funny to watch.

6/21/2025 - It's goat getting day! We went to New Life Ranch in Okeechobee and this goat stood out to me the most. He loved getting attention from us and when he came up to us, he put himself in a good showman stance that gives us a good foundation to start working on. My friend even got his twin brother!
